How can my school help?

Your school is required by law to have, and put into practice, an anti-bullying policy. You can request to see this anti-bullying policy if you’ve not been shown this.

It is recommended that there should be a teacher at your school who has specific responsibility for dealing with behaviour, including bullying.

Your school should be giving you clear messages about how bullying will be dealt with.

Your school should give clear guidance on how to report bullying and make sure that you feel safe to do so.

Your school should record incidents of bullying.

Your school should be working to stop bullying happening, as well as acting quickly when bullying occurs.

Your school should be dealing with bullying in a consistent way – this means that whenever bullying happens it should be dealt with properly, following your school’s guidelines.

Your school should be making sure that there is a safe and secure environment for you to learn in.

Your school should be taking an active approach to promoting good behaviour and respect for others.
